Afolabi Immanuel AbayomI, known as Maverick 'Manuel, works in Nigeria as a freelancer, creating photo stories on displaced people, HIV/AIDS, single news images, industrial photography and nature. He finds all subject-matters appealing, as long as they are issues that affect humans. He is currently working on a multimedia project about forgotten heroes.

He has been published by Reuters You Witness, BBC Focus on Africa, Photo Shelter and in national print media. He won an academic award (Mike Awoyinfa Award in Feature writing) after completing one of a program at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism. He loves going on adventures, reading, writing literary works, watching films and artworks, playing music and writing songs.
