Felix Masi is a documentary multimedia photographer and filmmaker, born and raised in Kenya. Felix started working as a newspaper photojournalist for the leading local daily newspaper The Standard. After five years, he left to focus on documenting social issues and tales of Africa. His photographs and documentaries on various issues have been published and featured locally and internationally, including the International Herald Tribune, UNTV, Johns Hopkins University, Norway, World Press Photo Foundation, The Standard and The Columbian.
Felix was a production coordinator for the award-winning documentary film “A Grandmother’s Tribe” and the Producer/Director of 2008 award-winning short film “Living in the Bucket” World Bank internationals year for sanitation. Felix also won the Johns Hopkins University annual photo contest in 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2008 Felix photo won the PhotoFinder award from Africa Media Online and his work on Kibera won him an award in the UNDP poverty strategy paper award in 2002 and 2003.
Felix Masi has been one of the African beneficiaries of World Press Photo Foundation training programs since 2006 and has worked on projects, including Climate Change 2006, Planet Earth 2009 in Angola and Twenty Ten multimedia project.
Felix Masi is the co-founder of Voiceless Children, a non-profit organization educating Kenyan kids and supporting grandmothers.
