(English) Almost three hundred illegal miners gather daily at an old mine dump, a mere two kilometres away from the Soccer City Arena in Soweto, South Africa. Although these illegal activities are happening in such close proximity to the 2010 Stadium, a senior researcher and strategist at the Institute of Security Studies, Doctor Johan Burger, feels that South Africa has the will and capacity to provide high quality security for one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
