The meaning of the project to me: Twenty Ten project has brought a wealth of experience in building my capacity as a photojournalist: in storytelling techniques, writing skills, the ethics of journalism and providing me the opportunity for exposure and setting the stage for trading my work in the global media market during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Most importantly, on the basis of the training and assignments given, the project proudly selected me from among many photographers in Africa to report about the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the first ever on the continent. Conclusively, the project has given me the privilege to be among the African journalists trained to report on the World Cup.
The highlights of the project: During the World Cup, I had the opportunity to travel to various communities in South Africa to report on what was going on behind the scenes of the World Cup. It provides me gifts such as camera gear, a laptop, funds, paid assignments, and meeting fellow journalists and ordinary people from around the continent and the world as a whole.
The Twenty Ten project further strengthened my friendship with fellow Liberian soccer legend George Weah, former 1995 African, European and world best footballer, during our meeting at 2010 FIFA World Cup games.
