Advances in modern technology have meant that even the poorest communities can mount a satellite dish on one of their houses so that locals can follow their favorite teams.

Egyptian clubs boast an equally impressive record, with the two-Zamlek and Ahly dominating continental club championship for years. With most members of the national team, the Pharaoh, playing at home, some would wonder what explains Egypt’s success at international soccer.
